FAQS
We know that anytime things change, people have questions, and so we've tried to put together a page full of answers to the questions that most people have asked now that we're offering 2 services.
Why do we need another service?
If you were in the service when we announced the change, then you understand that this move is about obedience to 1 and options for 16,000 (if you weren't there, you can watch the message here). Sometimes, God calls us to unexplainable obedience so that He can use us for an uncontainable harvest. We feel strongly that offering 2 services in an attempt to reach more people who are far from God is what He's asking of us, and so, we're "putting another boat in the water" to provide another option for people to hear the gospel.
How will this impact my children?
KidCity will happen during both services, and if you're a volunteer on an iOS Ministry Team, then your children will also be provided a new space called "The Landing" where they will be able to play and relax during the second service instead of going to KidCity twice.
How can I get involved?
In order to serve the needs of our church family and first time guests, we need anywhere from 25-40 servants in each service to step up and join one of our iOS Ministry Teams. From the parking lot to the hospitality table, from the band to the sound booth, there's a place for you! Plus, with 2 service times, you won't have to miss the service when you serve! Now you can worship in one and serve in one. Win-win!!
Where will I park?
In any one of the 361 available parking spaces within a one block radius of our church!! Seriously, there is plenty of parking and we're be providing easy to understand maps and directions to help you find them. Our first time guests will have designated parking behind the church and the space in front of the church will be used for pick up and drop off. With plenty of volunteers serving on the street, parking will be a breeze!
Why are you changing both service times? Why not just add an early service?
This is a great question, and the short answer is that people matter. Adding an early service (say at 8 am) would have required a very early start for our volunteers, and we want to honor them and their service. We wanted to have as much time in between the services to allow the whole church to sort of "meet in the middle" during an intentional 30 minute mix between the two services. In the coming and the going, there will still be time for relationships.
Won't this make the church feel different?
When people come to The Gathering and we ask them about their experience, we hear a few words over and over again. Real. Comfortable. Understandable. Loving. Passionate. None of that is changing. We're just multiplying the best about our church so that more people can experience it! But there will be a time when it feels different, because anything new takes time to feel natural. The good news is that you will still be attending service and serving with the people you love and who love you...TIMES TWO!
